Iconic style "Laureato" tonneau water-resistant-type case wih octagonal-shaped bezel designed by famous watch designer Gerald Genta. Most prestigious watch companies turned to watch designer Gerald Genta creating series of groundbreaking models that in part influenced Girard-Perregaux’s original Laureato series. Genta created the Royal Oak ref. 5402 for Audemars Piguet, launching the era of steel luxury timepieces when it debuted in 1972. Patek Philippe also enlisted Genta, who created the Nautilus and then designed IWC’s Ingenieur.
Bit of History:
The name Laureato was suggested by the Italian brand resentative at that time and is a tribute to the classic film “Il Laureato” (The Graduate) directed by Nicholas and starring Dustin Hoffman, Anne Bancroft and Katharine Ross. It is no coincidence that this was the watch was often given to young Italians on graduation day.
Swiss made Mechanical Automatic (Powered by wrist motion). Girard Perregaux caliber 3170, consisting of self-winding base movement and chronograph platform with total of 63 jewels.
