Longines 18kt solid gold case automatic model featuring legendary Longines manufactured Caliber L990 (originally produced in the 70`s) that later became even more famous Lemania 8810 now used exclusively by Breguet.
Bit of History:
In 1977 Longines manufactured Caliber L990.1 automatic movement. It featured the twin barrels side by side and simplified automatic system to wind in one direction only. In this configuration it remained the flattest automatic movement for close to a decade and is still regarded as a very advanced design. The Calibre 990 (and its variants) was the last automatic movement to be manufactured by Longines. In 1991 Lemania purchased the design and tooling for the Longines 990 and began producing it as a Lemania Calibre 8810. Lemania sold this movement to a number of high end watchmakers like Roger Dubuis, Vianney Halter, Daniel Roth, Ebel, RGM, Girard-Perregaux, Nivrel, and Breguet. Ironically, today Lemania is owned by a Swatch Group, parent of Longines, and to celebrate Longines anniversary a small batch of movements was produced under the old Longines logo.
