AS SEEN IN THE MAGAZINE. Gedalio "Gerry" Grinberg was a Cuban American watchmaker who was the founder and chairman of the Movado Group, based in Paramus, NJ. Grinberg was one of the first Swiss watchmakers to switch almost exclusively to the more accurate and reliable quartz movements in the late seventies when Seiko was crushing the Swiss quartz market domination. He also contributed about a million dollars for ETA to develop a 9-Ligne (20mm) wide and 1.95mm thick quartz movement as the cornerstone of his Line of "Nine/quartz"� models, launching in 1980.
