Mido was founded in Switzerland in 1918 by George Schaueren. The name Mido comes from the Spanish "Yo mido", I measure. Its located in the small watch town of Le Locle, in the Swiss Jura mountains. Mido "Multifort" model, as one of the first waterproof and automatic watches, were incredibly popular in United States all through WWII and Korean War, and was even competing against Bulova and Elgin for a military contract. The one piece case design, known as the ever popular "Commander" watch helped to improve watches durability and water resistance, as the watch did not have a removable back.
Another great innovation introduced by Mido was a world timer - showing business travellers time all over the world. But sadly, brand slowly faded away in the late 60`s, to now conquer Latin America and Asia. In 1985 Mido SA became part of to the Swatch Group - the biggest Swiss watch producer and distributor, who owns watch brands like Omega, Breguet, Glashutte Original, Longines, Rado, etc... 2007 was a year of re-birth of the brand in United States and Right Time Watch Center is proud to present this jewel of a watch to our watch enthusiasts all over the world, as an Authorized Mido dealer.
