Oris Carl Brashear---it is Limited and oh so stunning.

The Oris Limited Edition Carl Brashear is finally here! She is a beauty in design and in spirit. This bronze beauty is a tribute piece for the very important Carl Brashear, the first African American master diver for the US Navy. He was also the Navy`s first amputee diver after losing part of his lower leg in a dive to save a hydrogen bomb. If the story sounds familiar, he is played by Cuba Gooding Jr. in the movie Men of Honor. The watch is executed in a solid bronze case symbolic of deep-sea diving helmets of the 1950s. Brashear graduated from the Navy's diving program in 1954.

His helmet pictured is made of naturally aging bronze. Bronze is a unique material for watch cases. As the copper content reacts with moisture and carbon dioxide, the watch will develop a unique patina. The case back is stainless steel and features Brashear's diving helmet with his quote, "It's not a sin to get knocked down. It's a sin to stay down."

This man who conquered challenges of race and disability is an incredible man to show tribute to in a 2000 piece limited edition watch. The case is similar to that of Oris' current Divers 65, but is slightly larger at 42mm. The watch has a stunning deep blue dial that gets darker toward the edges of the dial. The brown leather strap is a warm compliment to the copper hues of the bronze case.

The presentation is in line with the usually impressive limited edition boxes that Oris is known for. The wood box features a US Navy Master Diver replica medal on the inside cover.
